Margaret Sabin, CEO and VP - New Product Development

|
Margaret Sabin is CEO of Sutter Health Partners and Vice President, New Product Development, for the Sutter Health. Sutter Health is a premier not-for-profit network of 28 hospitals with affiliated clinics and physician organizations based primarily in Northern California.
Sutter Health Partners is the Lifestyle Management and Wellness Coaching program within Sutter Health and is one of the early hospital system entrants into the field of health and wellness. As an innovator in this field, Ms. Sabin frequently speaks on this topic across the country.
Until March of 2005, MS Sabin was the CEO of Marin Community Health, which included Sutter Health affiliates Marin General Hospital and Novato Community Hospital.
She has also served as CEO of the Yampa Valley Medical Center, located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Swedish Medical Center (SMC) in Englewood, Colorado. In addition, she has been the Vice President for EMS and Trauma for the HealthONE Corporation, one of the largest health care systems in Colorado.
She was named as one of the Bay Area's 100 Most Influential Women in Business by the San Francisco Business Times for two consecutive years (2003 and 2004). She has also served as an adjunct professor for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center graduate program in health services administration. Ms Sabin is a certified fitness instructor with the American Council on Exercise and has maintained certification since 2001.
Ms. Sabin received her BS in Biology from Villanova University in Pennsylvania and her MHSA from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She currently resides in San Anselmo, California with her husband and four children.

Mary Anna Weklar, Director of Business Development

|
Mary Anna Weklar’s passion for health improvement began over 20 years ago. While working on the development of an open heart surgery program for Abington Memorial Hospital with Temple University Hospital in the Philadelphia area, Mary Anna became interested in preventive approaches to heart disease. Her interest grew into a passion. She eventually moved to California for an opportunity to work at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute founded by Dr. Dean Ornish. In 1997 she joined Sutter Health where she led a wide variety of strategic planning and business development projects. In 2006, Mary Anna came to Sutter Health Partners as the Director of Business Development. In this role, Mary Anna has a rare synergy between her avocation and her vocation in an arena she is most passionate about - helping others improve their health and fitness.
Mary Anna has received training in and has incorporated into her life the principles of a number of lifestyle programs including nutrition, yoga, meditation and an array of complementary approaches to supporting good health.
Her educational background includes a Masters in Health Services Administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC and a Bachelor of Science in Unified Science from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA. When not working, Mary Anna enjoys exercise, hiking, yoga, cross country skiing, and exploring fun ways to stay fit.

Kris Baldwin, Director of Operations

|
Kris Baldwin is the Director of Operations for Sutter Health Partners. Her objective is to monitor the needs and resources throughout the organization, expertly directing them to ensure that every component of the business has the tools and support needed to deliver the high quality services that Sutter Health Partners strives for.
Prior to her joining the Sutter Health Partners team, she managed provider operations for Marin IPA, giving her extensive knowledge in health plan administration. She has worked in healthcare for the past 10 years - assisting in patient care, case management, medical practice management, provider contracting and credentialing. She also has an extensive background in customer relations, giving her the versatility and perspective to act quickly for the greatest benefit of our members, employees and our company's continued success.
Kris assembled and manages the talented group of lifestyle management coaches working for Sutter Health Partners. Kris is passionate about the program and the coach team. She is proud and confident that the Sutter Health Partners team will make a positive impact on people's lives.

Melissa Cheney, Health Promotions Program Coordinator

|
Melissa Cheney is Health Promotions Program Coordinator for Sutter Health Partners. She brings her passion for health and wellness, as well as her extensive experience working as a Clinical Health Educator for Hill Physicians Medical Group, while managing their regional wellness program. In addition, she has also done a great deal of work on childhood obesity, working as a Case Manager for Delta Healthcare under the Healthy Hearts grant sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and for the The Health Plan on San Joaquin, working with migrant students to make lifestyle changes to reduce excess weight. Her focus is on lifestyle and disease management, empowering and educating the patient to manage their chronic conditions by making healthy lifestyle changes with the help of proper nutrition and exercise. As our nations’ health continues to plummet due to increases in obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases, she strives to help others lead a healthier lifestyle by promoting and implementing Sutter Health Partners’ Lifestyle Management Program.
Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in health communications and nutrition from the University of California at Davis. While she attended UC Davis, she also earned her EMT certificate.
Melissa is one who “walks the talk.” She enjoys regular physical activity, especially cycling, down hill skiing and swing dancing, where she and her husband were on UC Davis’ competitive ballroom dance team. She also incorporates healthy food choices into her daily routine, to be a good role model for others. Her personal motto that she strives to live by is “Live life to the fullest; every, every minute of it.”

Wendy Haworth, Marketing Coordinator

|
Wendy Haworth has over 15 years of health care marketing experience, which includes agency and in-house marketing, advertising, and communication strategy for both physician and consumer-directed marketing communications.
Wendy’s agency experience includes several years in account management working with physician practices in the specialties of ophthalmology, fertility, plastic and cosmetic surgery, and assisting them with marketing, patient relations, and practice management. She has also worked with various pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology companies in physician-directed marketing and advertising campaigns.
In addition to extensive agency experience, Wendy has a diverse in-house marketing and sales background. This experience includes a marketing manager position at Diversified Health Care Services, a worker’s compensation bill review and managed care company, and as a sales consultant at ANDRX Pharmaceuticals. She also has served as a consultant to Kaiser Permanente in the development and implementation of communications strategy and messaging for the opening of a new research facility in 2006.
Wendy received her BA in communications from California State University, Fullerton, and currently resides in Walnut Creek, California with her husband and four children. She enjoys exercise, travel, and spending time with her family.
